Sleds With Wheels
If the Quarter-Scale Tractor (QST) that is powered by a gas engine rated at 16 hp and burns ½ gal of gasoline:?
how far (ft) can it pull a sled on firm soil with a resistance of 1200 lbf, if wheel slip is 25% and the engine compression ratio is 10.3 to 1?????
Additional if need be: The QST's engine power is transmitted from the crankshaft through a trasmission to the rear axle. The rear tires engage the soil to provide thrust which propels the tractor to pull the sled.
The only other info I have isan engine speed of 3200 rev/min and the tires are 24 inches in diameter
What you need here is the engine thermal efficiency and efficiency of transmission . Compression ratio is a factor in determining thermal efficiency.
